Kids are awesome
Sunday, November 4th, 2007So, what I’m doing 40 hours a week thereby cruelly denying you the pleasure of my commentary is working with kids, both in an after school homework club and in an elementary school. About a month ago I was at the elementary school, sitting in on a fourth grade class. They were talking about basic geometric solids. How many sides does this triangular pyramid have? How many edges? Eventually they were getting to comparing and contrasting rectangular prisms and cubes. The teacher asked, “What are some things that are the same about this rectangular prism and this cube?” pointing to examples of each on his overhead projector.
One kid responded, “I bet they both like Harry Potter.”
